The following information describes the testing and diagnosis your PCB will undergo when you send it in for repair. All Ms Pacman and Pacman-type game boards submitted for repair undergo these tests.
    W
hen the testing device / software application  loads the test table for Pacman or Ms Pacman, the hardware interface device switches to the Z-80 type microprocessor, and the various sections of circuitry which make up the Pacman type PCB can be examined and verified.

Ms Pacman repair:          each section of the board is tested and verified:
Every program chip is verified and compared against a master data reference, and is replaced or reprogrammed, as required. All connections in the sockets for these chips are also analyzed, as the Ms Pacman test procedure is performed while the program chips physically exist on the circuit board under test.

All variations of conversions can be tested and repaired. The original 4 chip, as well as the 6-chip, 8-chip, single-chip, and multiple game types are supported with the testing system.
Any combination of the Pacman or Ms Pacman program chip versions  are accommodated for, as software automatically adjusts for these differences during the processing of the test request.
Verify program on Ms Pacman.       If while testing Z-80 socket 6B the program chip (6F) is found to be the regular speed version, an optional rapid speed upgrade is available.

More information on the areas of the Pacman circuitry which are verified and tested:

By selecting tests from the test table, the system is fully capable of diagnosing and verifying  the following areas of the Pacman game board. The underlined links provide further information.

2114 Ram chips   Real-time DIP switch    Moving character tests
Player 2 invert screen.   Sound  circuitry   Watchdog reset
Interrupt verify   Player Input   Text screen test patterns
Accounting output   Program chips   NVC 284
NVC 285   Color Screen tests   All addressing lines
All data lines   Individual chip tests  Address buffers
 Address decoding
Each link above pertains to a specific test group. This group consists of selected test numbers from the test table, sorted by objective. These tests run be run individually, as a group, or repeated until indications are satisfied that no errors exist in each section of the Pacman circuitry.
Continuous testing is performed.

Many failures due not occur until this process is performed. During this testing phase, all activity is recorded, and then analyzed. Groups of tests are run many times, searching for errors.
Any faults detected are highlighted while viewing the "Error Analysis" screen, and the possible causes are listed by probability. One example of such a report is viewable by selecting the following link:   Error Analysis  utilizing the GLS1 Electronics Computer Aided Testing System .

Troubleshooting tool used for Ms Pacman PCB
Use of the above software allows GLS1 Electronics to "run" the circuitry through specific address ranges, and control conditions which pertain to the targeted / suspected IC.

Boards are burned in for a minimum of 48 hours and are shipped back to customer within 2 business days of passing inspection, testing, and burn-in.
Ms Pacman / Pacman game boards submitted for repair must be complete, (all custom IC's and sub boards) and in repairable condition, (not physically damaged). If your PCB is missing parts, it can still be repaired, send in PCB for estimate, or contact GLS1 Electronics beforehand.
